This afternoon, shortly after noon time, a fatal accident occurred on a farm in Whites Cross near Ballinahina.
Locally, it is believed that the man who died, named Dan Enright by locals, had fallen through a roof while he repaired a building.
His body was transported to Cork University Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
Gardai have said that they treat Mr Enright’s death as tragic and will prepare a case for the coroner’s court, where an inquest is scheduled to be held in later this year.
Mr Enright, originally from Tralee in County Kerry lived at Rathcooney County Cork.
Locals describe him as an honest, hard-working man, who is a friend and gentleman.
Health and Safety Authority is conducting a thorough investigation of the accident and fatality.
According to HSA, 13 fatal accidents in farming were recorded by 2022.
A tragic accident has resulted in the death of an infant after she was struck by a vehicle this evening.
Cosby Avenue, in Fairgreen in Portlaoise (Co. Laois), was the scene of a fatal accident at around 1.15pm.
A three-year old girl was severely injured in the accident.
She was transported to the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise where she later died.
Gardai is appealing to any witness who may be willing to speak up.
The statement said: “Gardai appeal to anyone who witnessed this collision contact us.
Gardai are asking anyone who was in Portlaoise’s Fairgreen Area between 12:45pm-1.30pm today to provide any dashcam footage.
